Sundays 5:00-8:15pm in St. Laurence School
Life Nights are our weekly evangelistic outreach gatherings. They meet in the St. Laurence School gym right after the 5:00pm Liturgy (LIfe Teen Mass) and end at 8:15pm.
Over the course of four years, your high school teen will not only receive quality catechesis but will also connect to the larger teen community of St. Laurence as well as the parish as a whole. There are several different programs as listed below for your high school youth here at St. Laurence:
Our 4 year comprehensive high school catechesis is both intentional and systematic. We use the United States Bishops suggested curriculum to address current needs and situations relevant to youth culture through various miniseries each semester of dynamically orthodox teachings to better understand Roman Catholicism. This serves as our Religious Education (CCE) for high school students.
Below is the basic outline of our four year, comprehensive program:
- The Mission of Jesus
- The Mission of Jesus Continues in the Church Today
- Sacraments as a Privileged Encounter with Christ
- Life in Jesus Christ
- Living as a Disciple of Jesus Christ
- Ecumenical and Interrelations Issues
- Revelation of Jesus Christ in Scripture
- Who is Jesus Christ?
A high school home study program is also available for those families who prefer to teach the faith at home.
Tuesdays 6:00-7:30pm at St. Laurence School
"And they devoted themselves to the apostles' teaching and the fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers," Acts 2:42. "Dgroups" are small, grade specific community faith groups. Come join us for free food, community and faith sharing. These groups focus on relevant, challenging faith questions and help teens understand their Catholic faith. They run on bible studies which works hand-in-hand with our other youth ministry programs. Basically, these groups are focused on relationships; relationships with each other and with God. Discipleship Groups meet on Tuesdays from 6:00-7:30pm in the school.
2nd & 4th Tuesday at St Laurence School
St. Paul once used the analogy that he gave milk and not solid food to the Corinthians because they were not ready for it (1 Cor 3:1-2). Legacy is St Laurence's new program for our High School Juniors & Seniors ready to dive deeper into Catholic Teaching. These nights will focus on
leadership development & deepening our faith. Further, it will prepare our young people for a spiritual life that lasts long after youth group ends.
We all will leave behind a legacy, what will yours be?
*Dgroups & Legacy will not count as credit for CCE when prepping for Confirmation.
