Ministry to the Sick and Homebound is a group of St. Laurence Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, St. Laurence Parishioners, Deacons, and Parish Priests who provide sacramental ministry and support to those Catholics that are homebound or sick in hospitals, nursing homes, and assisted living facilities in the St. Laurence Community area.
As early as 150 A.D., Saint Justin Martyr noted that in Rome, deacons took Communion to those Christians who were absent from the assembly because of illness or imprisonment for their faith. We continue this ministry today.
This ministry visits hospitals, nursing homes, assisted living facilities, and the homebound to pray with them and bring Jesus to them in Holy Communion. If you would like to offer care and support by being a presence of the church to those unable to attend Mass, please call Ambrose Graham at 713-865-3729.
