Good Things Happen When People Gather
It is with great pleasure that were are able to offer the people of St Laurence the six week Lenten program “Disciples on the Journey” through Small Christian Communities. “Disciples on the Journey” is a lectionary based resource in English and Spanish for faith sharing. Use this free program with your existing group or be a part of a new group.
Lent offers us all a very special opportunity to journey with other ordinary people to help each other find God, and share our faith in a Small Christian Community. It is a great way to connect with people of St Laurence through study, support, prayer and fellowship. If you are new to St Laurence consider joining a small group, it will be an awesome way to connect and make new friends.
HOW TO SIGN UP FOR A SMALL GROUP
Look for SCC represetatives on the church Plaza on Sundays, Feb 11-12 and Feb 18-19 to sign up for a group on the day and time that works best for you. There will be sign up sheets available after all the Masses to join an SCC group. The small groups will consist of 12 people. If you are not able to sign up at one of the Masses, call Genoveva Duque at 281-980-1014 to sign up in an available group.
WHAT DOES A SMALL GROUP SESSION LOOK LIKE
Small groups meet in the homes of the participants each week and will then rotate homes for each session. There will be a faciltiator for the small group that will handle the logistics. A booklet will be given to each participant at the first session. We suggest that you also bring a Bible to your small group meeting. The session consists of an opening prayer, scripture readings, questions for faith sharing and discussions, living as disciples and a closing prayer. Food is part of fellowship and each particaipant can take turns each week providing the refreshments.
This is a great opportunity to be open to the Spirit, and to be willing to allow this time to enrich your faith and trust in God.
