People in need regularly come to St. Laurence looking for assistance. Often, they need groceries, gas, or help to pay their rent or utilities.
The Social Concerns Ministry of St. Laurence is ready to assist anyone who comes to us in need. We have trained staff who understand how to help those in need. The generosity of parishioners enables us to provide financial assistance, groceries, and necessities in excess of $15,000 each month - plus the guidance, support, and encouragement required during difficult situations.
If you see someone in need at St. Laurence, please follow these guidelines:
First, tell a Sacristan or a member of parish staff about the situation immediately. They will direct them to the resources we have available.
There are 2 “emergency food bags” located in the Sacristan’s Ministry room inside the cupboard marked “SCM.” Please give them 1 bag of food. My card is attached to the bag. Let them know they can call to set up an appointment on the following Monday.
Let them know God loves them and you’ll be praying for them.
Please do not approach anyone if you’re alone and out of sight of others.
Please do not give out cash or anything valuable.
Do not get in anyone’s car or let anyone in your car.
Please call me at any time with questions.
