We have a HUGE Announcement! You can now access the Parish Library from home and put your books on hold for pick up! You will need your library card number and your PIN. The card number is on your card but you will need to contact the Parish Librarian (smule@stlaurence.org) for your PIN. Once you put items on hold, send an email to the librarian letting her know and she will will message you back letting you know when you can pick up your items!
BE SURE AND CHECK OUT OUR GREAT BOOK STUDIES THAT ARE NOW MEETING ON ZOOM!
While the Parish Library is open any time the building is open, the librarian is generally available about thirty hours each week. In order to be available for the various activities in the Parish Library, the Parish Librarian hours are subject to change.
The librarian's hours during the Summer are:
Monday: 10:15 am - 6:15 pm
Tuesday: 8:15 am - 1:00 pm
Wednesday: 8:30 am - 4:00 pm
Thursday: 8:15 am - 1:00 pm
Friday: 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
During the school year the librarian tries to be here at various times a day throughout the week. While EDGE and CCE are in session, the the librarian is generally here:.
Monday: 10:00 am - 7:00 pm
Tuesday: 8:15 am - 12:15 pm
Wednesday: 10:00 am - 7:00 pm
Thursday: 11:30 am - 3:30 pm
Friday: 8:15 am - 12:15 pm
If the Librarian is not in, please take your books to the front desk of the Ave Maria Center so that the receptionist can check them out for you.
Do you have a library card yet? Have you picked up your library card?
You might and not realize it! Many people have library cards waiting for them at the front desk and have never picked them up. If you are a member of any of the ministries who met at the Ave Maria Center back when the building first opened or if you have ever filled out a library card application, you may very well have a card already waiting for you. The next time you are in the Ave Maria Center, stop by and ask the receptionist!
If you do not have a card, there are several ways to get one! You can stop by the Ave Maria Center and fill out an application for a library card, or, you can use the online application by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page! The form from the website can be printed as blank and filled out, or downloaded and then filled out via computer. You can then scan the form and email it back to the librarian, send it via traditional mail, or drop it off at the library. Once you have an application on file, you can take advantage of all that our great, new Parish Library has to offer!
Once you have a library card, call the library and ask for your pin number. This will not be on your card, but you will need it in the future when we make the card catalog available for home use!
While most of the books are now in the system, the transfer has been quite a long job and there are still items in the library that are not in the system. However, if you come when the librarian is here, the item can usually be put into the system right away. If the librarian is not in the library, please leave the item at the front desk and the librarian will put it in the system as soon as she returns.
Did you know that you can donate a book or other item to the library from our Amazon Wish List for any special occassion, such as a birthday, Baptism, Confirmation, marriage, or in memory of a loved one?
Contact the librarian to find out which materials are on the library's wish list! A special bookplate will be placed in any books purchased from the wishlist and donated in order to commemorate the person or event.
Volunteers Needed!!!
Want to help as a Library Volunteer? Contact our Library Coordinator Susan Mulé at 281-265-5774 or smule@stlaurence.org. There are lots of ways to help! All library volunteers must have Safe Environment training. The Parish Librarian can provide you with additional information regarding this online training course.
