Dr. Kevin Klotz received his Bachelor of Music degree in Piano Performance from Houston Baptist University and his Master of Music degree in Choral Conducting from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston. In December of 2015, he received his Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting degree from the Moores School of Music at the University of Houston.
Since 1999, Dr. Klotz has served as a full-time Music Minister at St. Laurence Catholic Church in Sugar Land, where he enthusiastically directs the choirs for the 9:00 a.m., 12:45 p.m., and 5:00 p.m. Sunday Masses. Throughout the year, he provides music for various liturgical celebrations at the parish, including Christmas, Easter, Confirmation, Holy Days, CCE, and the annual Heart of Worship Day of Prayer. In 2002, he founded the St. Laurence Chamber Singers, an auditioned choral ensemble dedicated to the performance of sacred masterworks.
In 2008, Dr. Klotz was invited to serve as the Principal Conductor for the dedication Mass of the new Co-Cathedral of the Sacred Heart in the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston where he directed the 150-member chorus and orchestra. This monumental event was televised live on ABC Channel 13 Houston. In 2014, Dr. Klotz was invited to be the guest conductor of the annual Ft. Bend ISD Handel's Messiah Concert where he conducted over 200 choral and orchestral students in a combined performance at Austin High School.
From 2012-2013, Dr. Klotz served as the Assistant Director of the Houston Symphony Chorus, where he collaborated with Dr. Charles Hausmann in the choral preparation of works for conductors Hans Graf, Matthew Halls, Hannu Lintu, Franz Anton Krager, and Michael Krajewski. Dr. Klotz is currently serving as the Artistic Director of the Houston Cecilia Chamber Choir and will be appointed the new Artistic Director of the Houston Choral Society in the fall of 2016.
Since 2007, Dr. Klotz has served on the part-time music faculty at Wharton County Junior College. He has attended choral conducting workshops at Westminster Choir College and the René Clausen Choral School, and he is an active and participating member of American Choral Directors Association, Texas Choral Directors Association, and National Pastoral Musicians.
