Over 400 families participating in 8 consecration groups!
Ask for Heaven’s help for our families, our parish, the Church, our country and our world. Participate in a simple parishwide spiritual retreat leading to consecration to the Blessed Mother on the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. Great for families and people of all ages. No meetings or gatherings required.
The consecration is based on a beautiful Mexican tradition in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe,
El Manto de María, adapted for today’s families. A group of 46 families prays together for a period of 46 days. The number 46 is inspired by the number of stars on the mantle of the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
This simple retreat has 4 spiritual practices: rosary, fasting, contemplation of virtues and consecration to Mary.
HOW IT WORKS:
A group leader will email you each day
Read the brief explanation of the daily virtue (humility, kindness, respect, etc) and reflect on it
Pray the rosary each day
Fast on the day you are assigned as the “star”
Everyone in your group will pray for Fr. Drew's intention and for your family’s intention on the day you are the “star”
MATERIALS:
There is no cost to participate
Everything you need will be emailed to you each day
If you wish to purchase the Mary’s Mantle Consecration book and corresponding Prayer Journal, both are available at Mary Regina Bookstore
PRAYER INTENTION OF FR. DREW:
For an end to the worldwide pandemic and the restoration of parish life and family life, that everything we do is for the glory of God.
PRAYER TO BEGIN THE CONSECRATION:
O most Holy Mother, whom I love tenderly as my own, in your sacred presence I offer to you these days of preparation for consecration in honor of the stars that adorned your heavenly mantle. I appeal to you to intercede these 46 days for all of my needs, for those of my loved ones, and for Fr. Drew's intention. Please show me the sweet compassion that you showered upon St. Juan Diego, your messenger. Please give me a pure and virtuous heart, like your own, so that I might derive the same consolation - the soothing of my pains and the lifting of my soul - that Juan Diego received from the gentle words you gave to him centuries ago:
"Listen, put it into your heart, my dearest one, that the thing that disturbs you, the thing that afflicts you, is nothing. Do not let your countenance, your heart be disturbed. Do not fear any sickness, nor anything that is sharp or hurtful. Am I not here, I who am your Mother? Are you not under my shadow and protection? Am I not the source of your joy? Are you not in the hollow of my mantle, in the crossing of my arms? Do you need anything more?"
