What is Confirmation? In Confirmation, Christians receive a special outpouring and deepening of the spiritual gifts that they received when they were baptized, just like the apostles received on Pentecost. (CCC 1285; 1302) The increase of these spiritual gifts that are received in the Sacrament of Confirmation helps the baptized to more fully live as a disciple of Jesus and share the faith with others. (CCC 1303)
Who is eligible to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation? The St. Laurence Catholic Church Confirmation preparation program is open to 10th or 11th graders who have been baptized and are already active and registered members of St. Laurence Catholic Church. This means they have completed at least one year of our parish's High School program (Life Teen) alongside all 9-12 grade students.

Is there an attendance policy? For a candidate to qualify for the Confirmation Rite, every teen must attend at least 70% of all Life Nights for the 2020-2021 Faith Formation/Religious Education year. Failure to meet this requirement may result in the repetition of the Sacramental Preparation of Confirmation year.
When is the first meeting for the Confirmation preparation program? The first meeting for those wishing to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation will be an Information Meeting that all teens preparing for Confirmation must attend with at least one parent or legal guardian. There will be multiple options, but all teens preparing for Confirmation must attend one of these information meetings with a parent.
Is there an ‘at-home’ option to prepare my teen for Confirmation? No, there is not. The Archdiocese stresses that due to communal aspects of Confirmation, youth within the parish should be prepared for the Sacrament of Confirmation together.
If the Candidate's sponsor is not able to be present, can they still be a Sponsor? If the Candidate's sponsor cannot make an event (Sponsor/Candidate Session, Confirmation Rite) a family member may stand in as proxy.
