We all want to be happy, and most of look to four things in life for that happiness: wealth, power, pleasure, and status. These four areas are alluring and promise safety and security. But do they really? Unfortunately, when relying on these “goods” to comfort us, we forget where we should truly place our trust and create substitutes for God rather than trusting Him. Throughout this series, we will take a closer look at each of these thieves of our happiness and how they can adversely affect our relationship with the Father if we are not careful about how we view and use them.
JOIN US Every 1st Monday of the month from 7-8 pm St. Laurence's Chapel of Divine Mercy. ALL are invited to join in praying before the Blessed Sacrament for an increase in vocations to the priesthood and religious life and for the protection of all our priests
The annual Blessing of the Animals is back and will take place on the Feast of St. Francis Assisi, Wednesday, October 4, at 5:30pm, on the grassy area by the parish hall. The blessing will begin promptly at 5:30pm with Fr. Jaison presiding. Don’t miss this opportunity to have your pet blessed! Your pet will receive a “blessed bandana”, a St. Francis medal, and a treat. Please bring a bag of Hill’s Science Diet (dog, puppy, cat, or kitten formulas) or Fancy Feast cat/kitten food (most needed), or any brand canned dog food to be donated to the City of Sugar Land Animal Center.
St. Laurence Vocations Committee will be meeting on Thursday, Oct. 5 at 5:30pm in room 201 in the Ave Maria Center. We want to share several events coming up in our parish to foster and promote vocations. I hope you can join us. Please let me know if you are able to come. Please feel free to invite anyone you know who may be interested in joining the committee.

Coping with the sudden or tragic death of a loved one can be very difficult. Survivors are often overwhelmed by the grief that follows an unexpected death, and this may complicate the grieving process. Connecting with others who are also grieving the sudden death of loved ones can facilitate the healing process. These are not counseling sessions. The Grieving Families support group is for those who are grieving the death of loved ones through murder, suicide, accident, or any other sudden death. The group meets on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm in the Ave Maria Parish Life Center in the St. Francis room. Join us for our next meeting. For more information or to register to attend these free sessions, please contact Agnes Fernandes at 281-933-3721 or [email protected]. Space is limited.
