What does a Life Night look like?
Life Nights begin with the 5:00pm Liturgy. We invite all teens and families to join us in the front pews for the dynamic liturgy. After this, we walk over to the Religious Education Building for Family style dinner. These dinners are shared with the teens specific faith sharing group, or small group. These groups are lead by Core Members, volunteer's within St. Laurence who have passed a background check, VIRTUS safety training program, and interview with the High School Youth Ministry Coordinator.
After the Family style dinner, our programming is dynamic and relevant to the ever changing needs of youth culture. This includes an engaging Catechetical talk, powerful worship and prayer, exciting and energetic Ice Breakers (games) and sometimes, intentional faith sharing group time (although we prefer that all of our teens become incorporated into our Discipleship Program for deeper mentoring).
Our nights typically involve some sort of practical application of faith towards teens. This can be done through our Adoration nights, prayer experiences, or involvement with a variety of other ministries and organizations. Our hope is that teens take ownership in their faith life and Church.
How can I help?
Life Nights take an extreme amount of planning and dedication. Parents are a key component to this. Whether it is assisting in attendace, food coordination, and security, we love having parents take an active part in their teens catechetical development.
Along with this, we have a Core Member program. These volunteers help plan and prepare our engaging programming, as well as facilitate the small faith groups that meet at each bi-monthly event. They are trained to engage teens where they are at, and help mentor them in their faith. After passing a background check, VIRTUS training program and personal meeting with the High School Youth Ministry Coordinator, they meet twice a month for further training and planning. These meetings also focus on building up the team through prayer and community, allowing us to minister to teens and each other as a cohesive community of Catholic Adults.
Remember, God doesn't call the qualified, He qualifies the called. Please join us in praying as to what YOUR role in this amazing High School Youth Ministry program is, and know that whatever God is calling you to, we will help build up.
