Challenge is a Catholic Youth Ministry program for 5th–8th grade girls that helps them grow in knowledge of their Catholic faith, deepen their relationship with Christ, form lasting friendships, and make a positive impact on their families, friends and the world around them.
Our Mission
Challenge strives to help girls know and love Christ with real friendship; the Pope and Church with loyalty; Mary as a daughter; and every person with genuine respect and charity. We strive to teach girls how to follow Christ’s example and live authentic Christian virtues such as friendship, sincerity, obedience, generosity, purity, charity, hope, joy, faith and perseverance. We have a great time doing it to!
How does it work?
The Sugar Land Challenge Club is an ECYD program, which stands for "Encounters, Convictions, and Your Decisions." This is the map we follow for a combination of formation, fun and apostolic works. ECYD includes a network of clubs and camps for girls, 5th through 8th grades.
St. Laurence is home to the Sugar Land Challenge Club. Many of our participants have continued as amazing High School Team Leaders in 9th through 12th grade, mentoring the club's members. At St. Laurence, meetings are Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:00pm at the Ave Maria Parish Life Center - Youth Hall.
