The St. Laurence Parish Library is now open for business!
Get your Parish Library Card!
Many people have library cards waiting for them at the front desk and have never picked them up. If you are a member of any of the ministries who met at the Ave Maria Center back when the building first opened or if you have ever filled out a library card application, you may very well have a card already waiting for you. The next time you are in the Ave Maria Center, stop by and ask the receptionist!
If you do not have a card, there are several ways to get one! You can stop by the Ave Maria Center and fill out an application for a library card, or, you can use the online application by clicking on the link at the bottom of the page! The form from the website can be printed as blank and filled out, or downloaded and then filled out via computer. You can then scan the form and email it back to the librarian, send it via traditional mail, or drop it off at the library. Once you have an application on file, you can take advantage of all that our great, new Parish Library has to offer!
The library is open any time the building is open, but the Parish Librarian is generally here on the following days:
Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and every other Friday: 9:00am to 1:00pm
Wednesdays: 3:00 pm to 7:30 pm on Edge nights; 9:00am to 1:00pm if there is no EDGE.
Remember! We’re still a work in progress, so please be patient when you attempt to check out books (not all of them are in the system yet). If you come during the hours that the librarian is here, she will put them into the system for you while you wait. If you cannot come during the librarian’s hours, you can leave the books you want to check out at the front desk, along with your card application, and the librarian will check them out when she returns and leave them at the front desk for you to pick up. Books that are already in the system may be checked out at the front desk by the Ave Maria Center receptionist.
Once you have a library card, call the library and ask for your pin number. This will not be on your card, but you will need it in the future when we make the card catalog available for home use!
Want to help as a Library Volunteer? Contact our Library Coordinator Susan Mulé at 281-265-5774 or firstname.lastname@example.org. There are lots of ways to help! All library volunteers must be Virtus trained.
Donation Update! Attention Parishioners! We are so grateful for the many donations we have received from the Parish Library. Parishioners have been so generous that our librarian is unable to process all of the donations fast enough! Therefore, please note that for the time being, the library is unable to take any more donations with the exception of religious or spiritual themed DVDs, and hardback religious children's picture books and religious themed novels for adults, children and teens.
We can also take materials that are specfically on our wish list. You can find that wish list on Amazon.com if you would like to purchase a book specifically for the library.
Wish list donations can be made for any special occassion, such as a birthday, Baptism, Confirmation, marriage, or in memory of a loved one. A special bookplate will be placed in any books purchased from the wishlist and donated in order to commemorate the person or event.
