Parish Drives

These are the annual drives for food, clothing, and other items that our parish undertakes each year to benefit our community. We take care of a large number of the poor and unfortunate in our area and wish to continue doing so with your help. Please check out the list below to see how and when you can participate in these amazing acts of charity!
 

FEBRUARY
THE GIVING TREE

This Lenten drive gathers the many new household items, toiletries and cleaning supplies needed to run our refugee resettlement program. Not only does it fully supply  at least 4 family homes per year, the items also benefit those in need that come to St. Laurence for help.  For more information, please contact Michelle or Pennie at socialconcerns@stlaurence.org

The 2014 Giving Tree Drive is scheduled to begin the weekend of March 8/9.

For a complete list of items collected, visit the Giving Tree page.  A sampling of the items we collect: toilet paper, paper towels, laundry detergent, blankets (new), sheet sets (new), towels (new), silverware (new), pots & pans (new), etc.  These types of items can also be donated throughout the year as we constantly need to refill our shelves!

MAY
BABY SHOWER

Spring tag drive for the parish Gabriel Project, collecting hundreds of items (diapers, clothing, bottles, blankets, cribs, car seats) needed to serve and support our young mothers in the community that have no present support system.  The 2013 drive starts the weekend of May 4/5.  For more information on the Baby Shower or Gabriel Project, please contact Barbara Pane barbara@panefamily.com

JULY
BACK TO SCHOOL SHOE DRIVE

This Summer drive collects and distributes new shoes to 800+ needy children in our community.  

Tag distribution for the 2013 Shoe Drive is tentatively scheduled for the weekends of July 6 and 13.  Watch the courtyard for the tag line.  Shoe sorting is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, July 27 at 9:00am in the Social Concerns Workroom.  For more information on the Shoe Drive, please contact the Social Concerns office at socialconcerns@stlaurence.org

AUGUST
SCHOOL SUPPLY DRIVE

This summer drive provides much needed school supplies to area agencies.  The 2013 School Supply Drive is scheduled for the weekends of August 10-11 and 17-18.  New school supplies can be dropped in the rolling bin located in the church narthex or in the parish office.  The supply list can be found on the left.

NOVEMBER
SHARE GOD'S BOUNTY

The 2013 Share God's Bounty food distribution is tentatively scheduled for Saturday, November 23, St. Laurence parishioners will provide turkeys & "the fixin's" for a complete Thanksgiving dinner for approximately 800 families in need in our parish & community.   Meal tags & monetary donation envelopes will be available on the tagline after masses the weekends of  November 3 & November 10.  The approximate cost of one meal is $35.   For more information, see the Share God's Bounty page.

DECEMBER
WISH UPON A STAR

This annual Winter drive provides over 2,000 Christmas gifts to benefit children, elderly, refugees and families in crisis that are presently being served by twelve area service agencies.  Each star represents one person in need this holiday season.
 
2013 star distribution is scheduled to take place the weekends of November 16/17 & November 23/24.  Be sure to stop by the plaza after all masses to pick up a star or two!  After those dates, stars will be available for pick up in the parish office.

Gifts will be due by Monday, December 9th and can be dropped in the SCM collection bin in the church narthex at mass or during the week in the parish office.  Please be sure that your star is firmly attached to the gift so that it goes to the intended recipient.
