Single? Engaged? Married? Have children?
It's always a good time to embrace the Church's teachings regarding the unitive and procreative joys of marriage!
What is NFP?
• An umbrella term for using the natural signs of a woman’s fertility
• To achieve or avoid pregnancy
• Based on the science of human reproduction
• Using no contraception to avoid pregnancy
• And avoiding artificial fertility approaches to achieve pregnancy
Natural Family Planning (NFP) is a medically safe, 100% natural way to postpone or achieve pregnancy by observing and interpreting the woman's fertility signs.
There are several methods of modern Natural Family Planning:
• Sympto-Thermal Method
• Couple-to-Couple League (a type of STM)
• Creighton Method
• Billings Ovulation Method
St. Laurence NFP Classes
Jacob & Jillian teach the Sympto-Thermal Method of NFP. This method is very similar to the CCL method, and is a highly-effective method of NFP using basal body temperature along with other signs. Couples wishing to learn the Billings or Creighton Methods are trained to observe one fertility sign, but do not use the basal body temperature sign. For more information on these methods, please follow the above link to the Archdiocese's Family Life Ministry web page.
The Sympto-Thermal Method has the same range of effectiveness as the most effective artificial means (Pill, IUD, Patch, etc.)!
NFP reflects the dignity of the human person within the context of marriage and family life, promotes openness to life, and recognizes the value of the child. By respecting the love-giving and life-giving natures of marriage, NFP can enrich the bond between husband and wife.
