Pre-K Children

All Pre-School and Kindergarten  CCE classes are currently full. You may come by the RE center to look at Home study materials as an alternative.

OVERVIEW OF PRESCHOOL PROGRAM

PreK - K CCE and Home Study families will use the Our Sunday Visitor textbook series, I Am Special. Through this series, children age 3,4,and 5 are “empowered to explore, discover, and learn more about themselves, about their relationships with others, and about God's marvelous creation." (Joan and Paul Plum Authors of I Am Special Series.)

Preschool children are not ready to absorb complicated religious beliefs. Religion for them is understandable in terms of their own experiences. This religious formation program, therefore, draws upon scriptural themes for many of its lesson topics and relates these to the children’s everyday experience and level of understanding.

AGES 3-5 CURRICULUM

The preschool religious program for children ages 3-5 is designed to help stimulate their faith development by providing them with the following opportunities:
  • Reinforcement of Christian values and attitudes being taught at home.
  • Participation in Christian learning experiences and activities
  • An introduction to community worship through active participation in prayer and song.
  • Fellowship and fun with children their own age.

KINDERGARTEN CURRICULUM

The religious education program for kindergarten-age children is designed to support parents in educating their children about the Catholic faith by helping children:
  • To develop positive attitudes about themselves, their family, and friends by discovering and learning more about the many gifts, talents, and abilities that God has provided.

  • To increase their knowledge and participation in the Church’s liturgical seasons of Advent, Christmas, Lent, and Easter.

  • To increase their knowledge about God and their friendship with Jesus.

  • To increase their knowledge and practice of Christian actions toward others, such as taking turns, listening, helping, caring, sharing, loving, and thanking others;

  • To increase their appreciation and celebration of God’s love and goodness through Scripture, music, and prayer.

Because young children learn best through actual experiences, lessons in this program use stories, songs, dramatizations, finger plays, sensory activities, Scriptures, and prayers in which participation is the primary component.

CLASS TIMES

Pre K- Kinder Classes begin on the first week of October and end the first weekend of May. Classes meet on Sunday mornings during the 9:00 am or 11:00 am Masses.

These options are on a first come first serve basis. We have small classes and therefore are limited in the number of kids that can attend classes. We ask that you mark your first and second choices on your registration forms in order to place your children into classes.
